Once you decide to move forward, we send you a detailed intake questionnaire. This is where you give us the specifics - your full legal name history, dates of any marriages or divorces, states where events occurred, and the documents you need. The more detail you give us, the faster we move. If we have clarifying questions, we will follow up by email before work begins.
You will also sign a simple service agreement that covers scope, billing terms, and authorizes us to contact government agencies on your behalf. It is plain-language and covers exactly what we agreed on. Research begins once the questionnaire is complete, the agreement is signed, and the retainer is paid.

About agency document fees: The government's fee to issue a certified copy of your records is separate from our retainer. These fees vary by state and county, typically $10-$35 per document. We collect these from you once research is complete and pay the agencies at exact cost with zero markup. Documents are ordered and sent directly from each agency to you.

Once your intake form and retainer are in, a dedicated researcher is assigned to your case. They review your history, map out exactly which agencies hold each document you need, and get to work. This typically begins within 1–2 business days of receiving your completed, workable information.

Agency Outreach & Ordering
We contact agencies by phone, mail, or their online portals - using the method each one actually responds to. What if an agency requires you to submit the request yourself?
Some agencies only release records directly to the subject - we fully respect that. When it happens, we do all the research, fill out the forms, and calculate the exact fees. We email you everything you need with clear, step-by-step instructions so you can submit the request yourself. The document still goes straight from the agency to you. You get all of our expertise; the final submission is just yours to make.

Once all fees are paid and orders are placed, we send you a detailed summary email covering everything relevant to your case. Certified records are on their way directly from each issuing agency to you. We are not in that delivery chain - by design.
