Once you have decided to move forward, we send you a detailed intake form. This is where you tell us the specifics - full legal name history, dates of any marriages or divorces, states where you have lived, and what documents you need. The more detail you give us, the faster we can move. Cases are worked in the order we receive completed, workable information - so the sooner you get us everything we need, the sooner your case moves to the front of the line.
You will also sign a simple service agreement - this covers the scope of work, our billing terms, and authorizes us to contact government agencies on your behalf. It is clear, plain-language, and only covers exactly what we agreed on.

About agency document fees: The cost for the government to issue a certified copy of your birth certificate, marriage license, or other records is separate from our retainer. These fees vary by state and county - typically $10–$35 per document. We collect these from you once research is complete and pay the agencies directly at exact cost, with zero markup. Documents are then ordered and sent directly from the agency to you.

Once your intake form and retainer are in, a dedicated researcher is assigned to your case. They review your history, map out exactly which agencies hold each document you need, and get to work. This typically begins within 1–2 business days of receiving your completed, workable information.
