1. Who We Are
RealIDPrep LLC is a private document research and ordering company based in Texas. We help individuals identify, locate, and submit the orders for the certified records they need to comply with the REAL ID Act and obtain a Real ID-compliant identification. Documents are sent directly from the issuing agencies to you — we never see, hold, or possess your certified records. We are good at navigating the systems, agencies, and paperwork involved in that process.
That is the full scope of what we are. Everything else in this document is about what we are not — and why that distinction matters for you.
We don't practice law and nothing we say is legal advice. If you need legal guidance, please consult a licensed attorney.
We have no affiliation with the DMV, federal government, or any state agency. We are a private company working on your behalf.
We can get you the right documents. Whether a DMV or agency accepts them is their call, not ours.
Real ID requirements are set by federal and state law. They can change. We work from the most current information available, but we can't predict future rule changes.
2. We Are Not a Law Firm
RealIDPrep is not a law firm. Our staff are not attorneys. Nothing on this website, in our communications, or in the course of our services should be interpreted as legal advice, legal representation, or a legal opinion of any kind.
We can tell you what documents are typically required for Real ID compliance in your state. We can research your specific situation and submit the orders for your records. What we cannot do is advise you on legal rights, represent you in any proceeding, or provide guidance on matters that require a licensed attorney — such as name change legal processes, immigration status questions, or disputes with government agencies.
If your Real ID situation involves a legal complexity — a contested identity record, an immigration-related document issue, a sealed court record, or similar — we strongly encourage you to consult a licensed attorney in addition to using our services. Those two things are not mutually exclusive, and we will always tell you honestly if your case falls outside our expertise.
3. We Are Not a Government Agency
RealIDPrep has no affiliation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the TSA, any state DMV, any state department of vital records, or any other government body. We are a private company.
We do not issue Real IDs. We do not make decisions about Real ID eligibility. We do not have any special authority or influence over government agencies on your behalf beyond acting as your authorized representative to request records. Government agencies process our requests the same way they would process a request from any member of the public — we simply know how to submit those requests correctly and efficiently.
Fees we charge for our services are separate from any government fees. Government fees are set by the issuing agencies and are passed through to you at cost with no markup. See our Pricing page and Refund Policy for details.
4. We Cannot Guarantee Outcomes
We are very good at what we do. We have a strong track record of successfully researching and ordering documents for our clients. But we want to be honest with you: we cannot guarantee that any particular outcome will result from our work.
Specifically, we cannot guarantee:
- That your DMV will accept your documents. DMV acceptance is determined by DMV staff applying their own policies and judgment. Those decisions are entirely outside our control, even when we have done everything correctly.
- That the records ordered on your behalf will be error-free. Government agencies issue records. If a birth certificate has an error on it, that error originated with the agency — not with us. We can help you navigate the correction process, but we cannot force an agency to correct its own records.
- That we can locate and order every record. Some records are lost, sealed, damaged, or otherwise inaccessible. If we encounter a situation where a record cannot be obtained, we will tell you promptly and honestly rather than keep billing you for a dead end.
- That processing will be completed by any specific date. Government agencies set their own timelines. We will always give you our best estimate and keep you updated, but we cannot make an agency move faster than it does.
What we can promise is that we will work diligently on your behalf, communicate transparently throughout the process, and never charge you for work we cannot justify. If something goes wrong that is within our control, we will own it and make it right.
5. Real ID Requirements Can Change
Real ID requirements are established by the REAL ID Act of 2005 and implemented differently by each state. Federal agencies, state legislatures, and state DMVs all have the authority to update, revise, or reinterpret these requirements — and they do so periodically.
The information on our website and any guidance we provide during your engagement reflects the requirements we are aware of at the time we provide it. We make every effort to stay current on federal and state Real ID standards, but we cannot guarantee that the information we act on today will remain accurate tomorrow.
If Real ID requirements change after we have already ordered your documents — and those changes affect what your DMV now requires — that is not something we can anticipate, prevent, or be held responsible for. In such a situation, we will do our best to advise you on next steps, but additional work to locate and order new or different documents may require a new engagement.
We always recommend checking with your state DMV directly before your appointment to confirm current requirements, even if you have already worked with us. Official DMV websites are the authoritative source for what will be accepted on the day of your visit.
6. Website Content Is for General Guidance Only
The information on realidprep.com — including our FAQ, How It Works pages, pricing descriptions, and any other written content — is intended to give you a general understanding of Real ID and of our services. It is not a substitute for a case-specific assessment of your situation.
Real ID requirements vary by state, and individual circumstances vary by person. Something that applies generally may not apply to you — or something that doesn't appear to apply generally might be exactly what your case requires. Until we review your specific situation at intake, any information on this site should be treated as a starting point, not a definitive answer.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the content on our website accurate and up to date. However, we do not warrant that every piece of information is complete, current, or free from error at all times. If you spot something that seems off, please let us know at legal@realidprep.com — we take that seriously.
7. External Links
Our website may include links to external websites — including state DMV websites, federal agency pages, vital records offices, and other resources we think may be helpful to you. These links are provided for your convenience and information only.
RealIDPrep does not control external websites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. The fact that we link to a site does not mean we endorse it or have any relationship with it beyond finding it potentially useful.
Government websites in particular — including DMV sites — can change their content, URLs, and requirements without notice. We recommend bookmarking official sources directly rather than relying on links from our site to always be current.
When you click a link that takes you to an external site, you are leaving realidprep.com and are subject to that site's own terms and policies.
8. Still Have Questions?
If anything on this page — or anywhere else on our site — is unclear, we want to hear from you. Transparency is something we take seriously, and that includes being reachable when you have a question before you decide to work with us.
